'12 operation nets more arrests

Three more people were arrested today in a Halifax County Sheriff's Office operation going back to 2012.

Lieutenant Anzell Harris said in a statement Agent D.C. Dickens identified 36-year-old Sheldon Batchelor; 21-year-old Derrick Hilliard and 22-year-old Torian Whitaker from the Summer Heat Wave operation, which netted different suspected drug dealers from the young to the elderly.

The three, Batchelor and Hilliard both of Enfield and Whitaker of Scotland Neck, were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell marijuana and deliver marijuana.

Batchelor received a $5,000 bond; Hilliard a $3,000 bond and Whitaker a $3,500 bond. They have October 12 court dates.

The operation began targeting street-level drug dealers throughout Halifax County in May and concluded in August 2012.
