Opening night of high school football gave several local teams the taste of victory Friday.

In Creeksville, Northampton County High School beat Roanoke Rapids, 33-16.

Weldon pounded Columbia, 48-0, and North Edgecombe whipped Northwest, 40-6.

Rocky Mount Prep slipped past KIPP, 6-0, and Hertford County beat Southeast 33-13.
