A Sunday morning shooting that may have occurred over jealously resulted in two men being treated at a Scotland Neck hospital, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Major Scott Hall said the initial report in the shooting of Doren Jones, 24, and Kelvin Williams, 29, indicated there might have been jealousy over the women the Scotland Neck men were dancing with at a club called Spotlight outside the town limits.

Hall said it will require more investigation to determine the motive. He did say one of the victims was sucker punched while dancing around 3:30.

A brief fight erupted inside the cluband both victims left. They were shot in the parking lot.

Both men were taken to Our Community Hospital and later transported to a trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.

While the investigation continues, Sheriff Wes Tripp ask anyone with any information to contact the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
