Lieutenant Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said this morning there was no evidence of a still anywhere on the premises of the Ninth Street residence searched.

He did say Ervin Lane, 54, allegedly had tables and chairs set up in the back yard for the purposes of drinking, essentially making the residence what is commonly referred to as a shot house.
The raid occurred around 9 p.m. when the narcotics division of the sheriff's office along with its Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team executed a search warrant at Lane's residence.
The search warrant was issued after narcotics agents received complaints about drug activity and the sale of moonshine.
Narcotics agents, with the assistance of state Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent Tim Parker, seized several containers of moonshine, guns and cocaine packaged for sale.
Harris said charges for the cocaine are pending further investigation but Lane was cited and charged for sale and possession for sale of non-tax paid alcoholic beverage and possession of non-tax paid alcoholic beverage.
He was given an October 2 court date.
Parker said he believed Lane was most likely buying the moonshine elsewhere.
