Robistow replaces Cardra Burns, who departed Halifax County in 2016.

Robistow was selected from a qualified pool of applicants and emerged as the top candidate after a rigorous interview and selection process, the county said in a statement.

Robistow has spent the last 17 years with Halifax Regional Medical Center serving in a variety of capacities, but in the last six years as vice president.

Prior to his employment with HRMC, Robistow served as a combat medic for the United States Marine Corps as a Navy corpsman, owned a respiratory home care business and also practiced as a respiratory therapist.

Robistow obtained his bachelor’s degree in applied science from Mount Olive College and obtained his masters degree in public health from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Halifax County Manager Tony Brown expressed his satisfaction with the selection of Robistow. “I am looking forward to establishing a positive working relationship with Mr. Robistow and look forward to his joining our Halifax County team.”

Board of Health Chair Justin Blackmon also commended the selection made by the board. “Our board is excited to welcome Mr. Robistow to Halifax County Public Health. His extensive background in health care and familiarity with our citizens and their needs makes him an excellent fit for Halifax County and for public health.”

Halifax County Board of Commissioners Chairman Vernon Bryant said in his capacity as a member of the Halifax Regional board he has worked alongside Robistow for severaI years. “He’s done an outstanding job as one of the vice presidents. I’m confident he is going to take the health department to the next level.”

Robistow’s first day with Halifax County is March 1.

He resides in Roanoke Rapids with his wife, Kathleen. “I am both proud and excited to have been selected to join the Halifax County team,” he said.
