Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a failed robbery which occurred in the 500 block of Roanoke Avenue Friday night.

The victims refused to comply with the demands of the person who tried to rob them, Captain Bobby Martin said.
Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement officers were dispatched to the avenue around 11 p.m. and learned a man, described as having a light complexion, approached the victims and demanded they hand over their money and purses.
When the victims declined to comply, the man, who stood about 5-feet, 8-inches, to 5-feet, 10-inches, ran away and was last seen heading south.
He wore what was described as a hooded shirt and reportedly pulled something from his pocket to threaten the victims, Hasty said.
No one was hurt.
