HCSO seeks clues in Essex sweepstakes robbery

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery which occurred last Friday at Diamond City Sweepstakes which is located in the Essex Plaza off Highway 561.

Detective R.M. Brown said the business was robbed of cash and customers were robbed of both cash and cell phones.
Brown said the people pictured in the security camera photo were last seen possibly headed toward Warren County on Evans Road. Their mode of transportation has not been established.
In a statement on the matter, Chief Deputy Scott Hall said the robbery occurred shortly before 11 p.m.
One of the men had a blue bandanna covering his mouth and brandished a small, silver revolver. His complexion was said to be medium brown and he wore his hair in dreadlocks. He appeared to be tall and skinny.
The second person also had a blue bandanna covering his mouth and brandished a small, silver revolver as well. He wore black shoes with pink around the toes and was described as having a medium brown complexion and was of average build.
