A Littleton man was charged today with 13 counts of breaking and entering motor vehicles as well as other related counts, the town’s police department reported this evening.

The charges lodged against 50-year-old Ricky Edmonds of Ferguson Street stem from an alleged spree which began late Saturday night into Sunday morning and again on Monday morning with the larceny of a vehicle, Patrolman Mark Oakley said.
Edmonds was arrested today after investigation by Oakley and town police Chief Winnie Bowens.
Oakley said the spree began around 11:30 Saturday night and extended to around 3 a.m. Sunday. It began again around 1 a.m. Monday. Edmonds left Littleton on the stolen vehicle around 3:30 Monday morning.
Thus far the only item recovered was the stolen vehicle. Both Oakley and Bowens said motive is unknown.
Edmonds broke vehicle windows and a range of tools and car parts were taken, Oakley said.
Bowens said there were four attempts to take car batteries and at least one was taken.
The police chief said Edmonds reportedly took advantage of the weather during the spree. Monetary damages were not immediately known, the chief said.
“All those involved did an outstanding job and I’m proud of my department,” Bowens said.
Oakley said police work and information from sources and other agencies helped lead to the arrest of Edmonds.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating alleged crimes committed by Edmonds, both Oakley and Bowens confirmed.
In addition to the 13 motor vehicle break-in counts, Edmonds was charged with seven counts of misdemeanor larceny; seven counts of injury to personal property; two counts of attempted larceny; two counts of felony breaking and entering; one count of larceny of a motor vehicle; one count burglary of an occupied dwelling and one count of injury to real property.
Edmonds was jailed on $130,000 bond and has a February 1 court date.
