A Weldon man was charged Monday in an afternoon armed robbery.

Raheem Scott

Raheem Scott, 19, was jailed on $15,000 secured bond and awaits a February 15 court date, according to a statement by Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Scott reportedly used a rifle during the robbery of the victim, which occurred around 3 p.m. at Eleventh and Sycamore streets on the outskirts of Weldon.
Money was taken during the robbery and the victim was not injured, but visibly upset, Hall said.
Lieutenant Chris Davis of the Weldon Police Department and Corporal Stephan Bryant of the sheriff’s office located the victim.
Bryant’s investigation led to the arrest of Scott on a count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Hall described the rifle used in the robbery as “assault style” weapon.
