Fire destroyed a doublewide home in the Darlington community late Wednesday afternoon.

No one was harmed and a cat and dog were rescued from inside, Darlington Volunteer Fire Department Chief Richard Pulley said.
Pulley said the family lost everything in the fire and the American Red Cross was called.

Darlington received the call just after 4:30 p.m. and responded to Tanner Road with Enfield responding for mutual aid. Rheasville was also dispatched for additional manpower.
The first truck arrived on the scene shortly before 4:40 p.m. and firefighters reported flames coming through the roof.
Pulley said the roof of the home collapsed. He said the cause of the fire appears to be from cooking.
The residents of the the home have family in the area.
Firefighters spent about four hours at the scene performing overhaul after the blaze.
Pulley said 11 fire trucks responded to the scene as well as three EMS units and two Halifax County Sheriff’s Office units. “I would like to thank all that assisted last night,” the fire chief said in a statement.
