The arrests of Deontrae Bachum Harvey and Jami Lynn Landen started with a complaint of drug activity and sales fielded by Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
City County Drug Task Force Captain A.M. Harris said in a statement agents followed up on the information and around 12:30 p.m. sent an undercover agent to the residence.
The agent reportedly bought cocaine from Harvey, 27, and Agent D.R. Radford obtained warrants for his arrest on charges of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sell cocaine, deliver cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.
With the information provided by the undercover agent, Radford applied for, and was granted, a search warrant for the residence.
Around 4:45 p.m., agents were preparing for the execution of the search warrant when Harris noticed Harvey traveling on Highway 158 in the South Rosemary area and conducted a stop.
With the assistance from Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Gang Task Force Officer D.C. Dickens, Harvey was arrested for the outstanding warrants.
During the search approximately 0.7 grams of heroin, 3.7 grams of cocaine and a handgun were located.
Shortly before 5 p.m., agents executed the search warrant at the residence and located several items of drug paraphernalia and cocaine.
