The Greensville County Virginia (Emporia) Meherrin River Arts Council (MRAC) released their 2017 spectacular season that features four remarkable shows.

The mission of the Meherrin River Arts Council is to produce an annual concert series that features nationally known entertainers who perform a wide genre of music at a reasonable cost to our patrons.  To provide various performing arts programming in the local schools.

This year the MRAC will be celebrating its thirty-ninth anniversary season. Over the past quarter century, the MRAC has hosted over 100 performances.  Local audiences have enjoyed everything from opera and ballet to plays and symphonic concerts. National and international stars have brought the sounds of jazz, country, contemporary and popular music to the region.

The Beach Boys - January 21, 2017

You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. Their amazing hits include “Surfin’,”  “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “California Girls,” “Good Vibrations,” “Kokomo,” and so many other
remarkable hits.

The Beach Boys continue to hold Billboard / Nielsen SoundScan’s record as the top-selling American band for albums and singles, and they are also the American group with the most Billboard Top 40 chart hits (36) with over 100 million records sold worldwide.  They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

The Righteous Brothers - March 25, 2017

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo The Righteous Brothers topped the charts in four decades.  Bill Medley is truly one of the iconic figures in American music history. His instantly recognizable baritone voice has anchored some of the biggest
recordings of all time. He has won a Grammy, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and an American Music Award. Now, Bill Medley joins forces with one of the most versatile vocalists in America, Bucky Heard, to bring The Righteous Brothers back to the stage.

Presently, they’ve been performing at Harrah’s in Vegas since December.  Their concert experience features #1 hits including “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” “Soul & Inspiration,” “Unchained Melody,” “Rock and Roll Heaven,” Grammy-winning Dirty Dancing theme “The Time of My Life,” and much, much more!

Levon - March 4, 2017

Back by popular demand, Levon was the opening act last season for LeAnn Rimes. Their music and style is inspired by the works of The Eagles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, making Levon’s sound a combination of “Then” and “Now.”

Levon’s lead singer and guitarist Michael Hall remembers his father
listening to country and 70’s rock bands and thinking, “This is the kind of music people want to get back to, music I want to get back to. Honest lyrics and memorable melodies. Hopefully our music speaks to that,” he says.

Levon is currently playing shows across the country, opening for artists like Florida Georgia Line, Chase Rice and musical legend Willie Nelson.

Lonestar - April 29, 2017

For more than 20 years Lonestar has logged countless miles touring throughout the world, released several
Platinum-selling albums, earned ACM and CMA awards, and inspired rave reviews as far away as London, where The Guardian proclaimed them exemplars of “country’s greatest strength: picture-painting, story-based, tear-your-heart-out lyrics that are the most direct and lucid in popular music.”

Known for merging their country roots with strong melodies and rich vocals Lonestar has charted more than 20
singles on Hot Country Songs, including 9 that reached #1: "No News," "Come Cryin' to Me," "Amazed," "Smile," "What About Now," "Tell Her,” "I'm Already There," "My Front Porch Looking In," and "Mr. Mom." "Amazed" also charted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first country song to do so since "Islands in the Stream" in 1983.
