Family members charged in Oct. tool larceny

Two family members have been arrested for the larceny of a toolbox and power tools from a residence off Sam Powell Dairy Road last month.

Detective Matt Brown of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Christopher Ryan Turner, 30, was arrested last week in Franklin County while there for a court date.

Matthew Blaine Turner, 27, was arrested Tuesday by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office. Both men are from Roanoke Rapids.
Brown said the men are related.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement investigation by Brown and assistance from a cooperating witness led to the arrests.
Both have been charged with conspire to commit larceny, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods and attempted misdemeanor larceny.
Christopher Turner received a $20,000 bond while Matthew Turner received a $1,500 bond. Both have November 23 court dates.
Meanwhile, Hall said in the statement, on November 4 Brown charged Christopher Turner with resist, obstruct, and delay.
Brown and Deputy M. Liles were attempting to serve outstanding warrants on him when he fled and led them on a foot chase. He was arrested and given a $500 bond.
