Four men, all with past criminal records and one currently behind bars in the state prison system, have been identified and are wanted in the July 24 theft of food from a Roanoke Avenue grocery store.

Captain Bobby Martin of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said this morning media reports Friday which came in quickly helped to identify the men — George Junior Harvey, Javarre Kyshe Rook, Melvin Stanley Broady and Joshua Patrick Brown.
Warrants have been obtained for their arrest on charges of larceny and possession of stolen goods, Martin said in a statement.
That law enforcement had mugshots of them is indicative they all had past brushes with the law, which state Department of Public Safety and state court records confirm.
One of the men, Rook, is already in Department of Public Safety custody and was re-entered into the system Friday.
Rook also has a September 29 court date in Northampton County for injury to personal property.
The men, whose photos were captured on the store’s security system, allegedly took $70 worth of steaks and pork chops from the Roanoke Avenue Food Lion.
“These individuals are urged to turn themselves into the Roanoke Rapids Police Department … The Roanoke Rapids Police Department would like to thank the many members of the public who provided information and encourages continued support from the community,” Martin said in the statement.
