She was honored at the board’s Career-Readiness Standards Networking Conference last week in Louisville.
The award recognizes a principal who helps spread the effective teaching strategies of the Literacy Design Collaborative and Mathematics Design Collaborative frameworks at and beyond her school.
Williams was a consistent and active participant in training the entire school year. She exercised significant influence on teacher professional development with an understanding of how teacher learning and professional development link to student learning, the school system said in a statement.
Williams was named the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District's Principal of the Year and will continue to serve at the high school for the 2016-17 school year.
