RRPD blotter: March 1-3, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Tuesday March 1, 2016

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Master Officer Adam Salmon responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Latasha Nicole Kee, 34, of Seaboard, took items.

Salmon cited Kee, who was released until her April 25 court date, for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

At approximately 11 p.m., Master Officer Roy Ball and Officer Jamie Hardy were on patrol when they observed a vehicle at Fifth Street Boat Landing.

Speaking with Brittany Nicole Floyd, 19, of Seaboard, officers could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search officers located marijuana, prescription medication and paraphernalia.

The officers arrested and charged Floyd with possession of schedule VI, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance.

Floyd received a $2,000 bond and April 13 court date.

Wednesday March 2, 2016

At approximately 5 a.m., officers Scott Blythe and Greg Colson responded to a trespasser call at Walmart.

Management reported Michael Linn Fleming, 52, of Roanoke Rapids, was inside and refusing to leave. Officers located Fleming, escorted him off the property and warned him about coming back.

Approximately 30 minutes later, while the officers were still there, Fleming returned and was arrested for trespassing.

He received a $400 bond and April 22 court date.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Salmon conducted a traffic stop on Vine Street.

The driver, James Randolph Williams, had outstanding warrants for possession of a stolen firearm. These charges stem from an investigation by Investigator Chris Babb on January 7 when the victim reported a firearm was stolen from his vehicle in November.

Williams was also charged with driving while license revoked and speeding.

He received a $1,500 bond and March 16 court date.

At approximately 4 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention told central dispatch a man, later identified as Robert Daryle Dunlow, 44, of Garysburg, took items from the store and left on a vehicle.

Lieutenant Jeff Baggett spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Old Farm Road and loss prevention identified Dunlow, who was charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He received a $1,000 bond and April 15 court date.

Sergeant Mike Moseley assisted.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., Hardy arrested Jaquarious Khalil Williams, 17, of Roanoke Rapids, on outstanding warrants for kidnapping and assault inflicting serious injury.

These charges stem from two different events Investigative Lieutenant Charles Vaught investigated. The assault allegedly happened on January 30, the victim sustaining a broken pelvis and other injuries. The other happened on February 15 when the victim reported they were held against their will and a gun was pointed.

The other person, Joshua Jermaine Durant, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, is still at large.

Williams received a $25,000 bond and a court date of March 16.

Moseley, Ball and Blythe assisted.

Thursday March 3, 2016

At approximately 5 p.m., Officer Dale Strickland responded to a call about a child begging for money at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Security reported the child was begging for money, stating the mother had to have major surgery.

The mother, Edna Martin, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, was located in the parking lot and did not appear to have a medical crisis.

Strickland arrested and charged Martin, who received a $1,000 bond and April 15 court date, with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

At approximately 1 p.m., Salmon responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Michelle Lynn Williams, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, took items from the store.

Salmon cited Williams, who was released until her April 15 court date, for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., Investigator J.K. Davis served an outstanding warrant on John Thaddeus O’Briant Jr., 49, of Roanoke Rapids, when he surrendered to the police department.

The charge of obtaining property by false pretense stems from an investigation conducted by Investigator Chris Babb when the victim reported on February 9 they responded to a Craigslist ad about a pool table.

The victim sent money but never received the table.

O’Briant received a $3,000 bond and March 16 court date.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Moseley served outstanding warrants on Jennifer Nicole Horton, 28, and Sarah Jessica Shotwell, 20, both of Roanoke Rapids, for larceny by employee and conspiracy.

These charges stem from an investigation conducted by Officer Ryan Cross, on February 25 at Food Lion.

Loss prevention reported from December 21 of last year to January 4 Horton and Shotwell would refund money to themselves while working.

Horton received a $6,000 bond and Shotwell a $4,000 bond.

Both have April 8 court dates.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Davis arrested and charged Hakeem Deshaun Martin, 17, of Gaston, with possession of stolen goods.

The charges stem from a December 10 residential breaking and entering in the 200 block of Jackson Street in which several items were taken.

Martin received a $1,500 bond and has a court date of April 20.

A juvenile was served with a petition in the case in December and investigation continues. More arrests are possible.
