Roanoke Rapids City Council this evening honored employees for their years of service.

They were given pins as well as certificates and a reception, which was planned by the Benevolent Awards and Recognition Committee, was held prior to the meeting.

Also included in this photo gallery is police Chief Chuck Hasty announcing the promotion of Adam Salmon to master officer, which is the last photo. Salmon has 14 years in law enforcement including the state Department of Public Safety and Warren County Sheriff's Office. He has been with Roanoke Rapids since 2012 and was previously a police officer II.

The service awards photos are in the following order:

Lisa Vincent, city clerk, was presented a pin for 30 years of service while Parks and Recreation Director John Simeon was honored for 20 years.

Firefighter B.J. Harris was honored for 15 years of service while Mike Clements, who was not present, and Tim Gray were honored for 25 years of service.

Parks and recreation honored Rose Massey for five years of service, Kelly Manning for 15 years of service and Gary Faulcon for 20.

The police department honored Scott Blythe for five years of service, Charles Burnette, Andy Jackson and Mark Peck for 15 and Bruce Norton for 20.

The public works department honored Christopher Campbell for five years of service, Lakeshia Jones for 15, Doug Love for 20 and Marvin Purnell for 25.

Jeremy Gordon — five years — and Jerell Evans — 10 years — were not present.
