New signs have gone up in Halifax County reminding motorists of three missing people.

Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said the signs went up Monday — one on Highway 158 past Zoo Road and the other at the intersection of Highway 258 and Lees Meadow Road in Scotland Neck.

Northampton County Jack Smith said signs in the county will go up within the next 10 days.

The signs are one of the commitments made following a prayer vigil in March to remember those missing in both counties.

Tripp donated the frames and 4X4s from previous campaign signs to prepare for the construction, he said today.

“It's an avenue to try to keep it in the public's eye,” said Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty.

The Halifax County signs show photos of Shonda Stansbury, Jalesa Reynolds and Amy Wells Bridgeman.

The Northampton County signs will show photos of Shawn Alston, Daniel Moses, Phyllis Powell and Robert Moore, Smith said.

The signs in Northampton County will be placed in Gaston and Garysburg.

“I'm praying and hoping they will keep it fresh on people's minds,” Smith said. “If they see something that makes them believe it may be that person, they should call law enforcement.”
