A vehicle was also stolen from the 700 block of Franklin Street. Electronics were stolen from the vehicles, Hasty said.
As the breaking and entering investigation continued, Hasty said the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office received a collision and burning vehicle report on Everette's School Road near Highway 903.
Deputies located Williams and Durant walking near the crash scene. Durant attempted to flee but was caught a short distance away by deputies.
During the investigation evidence was discovered that linked them to the vehicle breaking and entering cases and the stolen vehicle which they allegedly set on fire after the crash.
Both teens face five counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, three counts of larceny, three counts of possession of stolen goods, larceny of a motor vehicle and burning of personal property.
Durant additionally faces a charge of resist, delay and obstruct, which was filed by the sheriff's office.
They both have November 18 court dates, Williams receiving a $24,000 bond and Durant a $31,500 bond.
Roanoke Rapids Sergeant Terrence Tyler, Master Officer Peck and officers Jonathan Benthall and Matt Hunsucker and deputies Matt Brown and Brittany Warren along with state Highway Patrol Trooper D.P. Efird assisted in getting the teens into custody.
