A Tuesday fight in the cafeteria of Northampton County High School has resulted in six arrests.

Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr. of the county sheriff's office said the six face charges of simple affray and disorderly conduct.

DeLoatch said investigation into motive behind the fight, in which only one minor injury was reported, is still ongoing and more charges are possible.

Those charged received $500 secured bonds and October 20 court dates.

Charged were:

JaQuan Miles, 16, of Garysburg

Stefone Ashe, 16, of Garysburg

Michael Jones, 17, of Rich Square

Anthony Lee, 17, of Seaboard

Marshae Moody, 17, of Seaboard

Sheriff Jack Smith said in a statement, “Students need to listen and comply with instructions of the school administrators, teachers and any other school personnel in incidents such as this. It will help defuse the situation and possibly prevent injuries, arrest and suspensions.

“I would like to also commend members of the sheriff’s office, Chief Billy Duke of the Conway Police Department, and the members of the Conway and Northampton EMS.”
