RRPD blotter: September 26-27

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Monday, September 26, 2015

At approximately 6 a.m., Officer Ariel Burgess responded to a single-vehicle crash at East Tenth Street and Carolina Avenue.

Burgess learned the driver fled the scene, but was later located.

Anjel Emandes-Pedro, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with no operator’s license, careless and reckless driving and hit and run.

He received a $1,000 bond and an October 21 court date.

Lieutenant Jeff Baggett, Sergeant Mike Moseley and Master Officer Gorton Williams assisted.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Sergeant Terrence Tyler responded to a possible domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Charlotte Street along with officers Jason Williams, Dale Strickland and Adam Salmon.

The victim claimed Micheal Lee Mitchell, 45, of Roanoke Rapids, struck them with his vehicle.

Officers determined during the investigation no one was struck.

Strickland arrested and charged Mitchell with driving while license revoked and driving while impaired.

He received a $2,000 bond and a November 9 court date.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to a careless and reckless driving call in the 700 block of Monroe Street.

Mason learned there was an argument over a possible collision between two vehicles,.

Mason arrested and charged Bruce Carlton McKeel, 38, and Sean Thomas Hester, 40, both of Roanoke Rapids, for their involvement.

McKeel was charged with driving while license revoked and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer. Hester was charged with resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer.

McKeel received a $1,000 bond and Hester a $1,400 bond. They have October 30 court dates.

Moseley and Salmon assisted.

Tuesday September 27, 2015

At approximately 8:45 p.m., Officer Ryan Cross responded to an assault call in the 100 block of Madison Street.

Cross spoke with Mychal Iquan Bynum, 26, and Sharon Denise Bynum, 28, both of Roanoke Rapids. Cross noticed both had injuries and arrested them.

Mr. Bynum was charged with assault on a female and Ms. Bynum was charged with assault and battery, possession of a weapon of mass destruction and assault by pointing a gun.

Mr. Bynum received a $1,000 bond and Ms. Bynum received a $10,000 bond.

Both have October 28 court dates.

Lieutenant Charles Burnette and Sergeant Richie White assisted.
