The murder of 2-year-old Dy'Uanna Anderson and the shooting of her grandmother was in retaliation to the earlier murder of 15-year-old Keyuon Garner and the shooting of two friends who were with him, Weldon Police Chief Mark Macon said this afternoon.

A Roanoke Rapids boy was arrested Thursday and a Gaston man is wanted in connection with the theft of a Gator from the Roanoke Rapids High School maintenance area and two break-ins of an Internet cafe in Gaston.

Wallace Fork Rd. checkpoint nets pot arrest

A Monday night checking station in the Wallace Fork Road area netted the seizure of 12 grams of packaged marijuana, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

A total of five Democrats will run against two Republicans in the Halifax County Board of Commissioners race in the November 4 general election.
