RRPD investigates morning stabbing

Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a stabbing that occurred around 3 a.m. today involving a man who said he was assaulted while he was walking.

Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement it was unclear where the stabbing occurred. The victim called law enforcement from the Carolina Inn on Jackson Street.

Officer Joey Spragins responded to the motel and learned the victim had been stabbed once in the back.

The victim, who was treated and released, was unable to give information on the suspects or where the the stabbing occurred.
