A boyfriend-girlfriend dispute led to charges against a Halifax man Sunday evening.

Roanoke Rapids Police Department Investigator Bobby Martin charged 18-year-old Alfred Acey Carlilse II with assault on a female; interfering with emergency communications; kidnapping; breaking and entering and communicating threats.

Police Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement that Master Officer Mark Peck responded to an assault call on Cedar Street around 6:45 p.m.

The victim told Peck that Carlilse assaulted and threatened her while inside the residence.

Martin said the victim was struck and held down. She did not require hospitalization.

Hasty said Carlisle took the victim's cellphone and keys. The victim, however, made a call to get help and Carlilse left the residence.

Martin arrested Carlilse around 9:30 p.m.

He was jailed on $10,000 bond and awaits a May 20 court date.
