The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is looking for a man who allegedly caused $34,000 in damages to ice boxes last month at Roanoke Valley Ice.

Detective Bobby Martin said warrants have been filed for the arrest of Tervonte Clanton, 17, of Roanoke Rapids. He frequents areas of Roanoke Rapids and Gaston.

He faces charges of felony larceny, possession of stolen goods and injury to personal property.

At least 19 machines were damaged between July 22 and July 24, Martin said. Compressors and condensers were removed, and copper lines were cut.

Investigation took Martin to a salvage yard in Gaston, where the equipment was sold and scrapped. Martin said the owner of the salvage yard was helpful in identifying Clanton as the alleged perpetrator.
