The North Carolina Highway Patrol is reaching out to the community for assistance with hit and run collisions that have yet to be solved.

Sergeant J.R. Sharlow said he is seeking any help that could lead to new witnesses or any other information that could help in the investigations.

On March 26, 2011, shortly after 1:15 a.m., Sheila Brinson was walking west in the eastbound lane of Branch Avenue in the Lincoln Heights community.

A vehicle traveling west crossed the center line and struck Brinson in the roadway and left the scene.

Sharlow said the patrol is also seeking information on the death of Calvin Jefferson around 9 p.m. on August 6 of last year.

This hit and run occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on Faulcon Road. Jefferson had been riding his bicycle southbound in the southbound lane.

Jefferson had stopped his bicycle and was speaking to someone that had stopped in the northbound lane when a vehicle traveling south struck him in the roadway and left the scene. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sharlow at 252-536-2224 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
