State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents are investigating the theft of liquor from two area package stores — Roanoke Rapids and Littleton.

Agent Jeff Thornley said 10 bottles of liquor have been stolen from the Roanoke Rapids store.

Agent Steve Stile said the Roanoke Rapids thefts were possibly committed by the same person over a two-month period in February and March.

Surveillance footage from March 10 shows a blue Nissan extended cab pickup pull into the parking lot from Julian R. Allsbrook Highway around 9 a.m. It appears the truck may have a ramp on the back to load a wheelchair. The tags are unknown.

The woman pictured in the video comes in with a shopping bag and goes to the Kahlua section where she can be seen putting bottles in the bag.

She then goes to the counter purportedly to pay for one bottle, but because she is using a card to pay, must show her ID.

The agents said the woman claimed to have left her ID in the vehicle. She leaves the one bottle of Kahlua on the counter and leaves the store with the other bottles in her bag.

The woman in the Littleton theft.

In the Littleton theft on March 11 around 3:15 p.m. a woman walked into the store and picked up two bottles of Smirnoff vodka. She left the line and went to the back of the store, where she stuffed one bottle into her pants. She returned to the line and paid for one bottle.
