One car was stolen and several others broken into following a rash of vehicle break-ins on Georgia Avenue.

The vehicle was stolen after its keys were found in another vehicle that was broken into, according to Roanoke Rapids police.

The crimes occurred in the 1100 and 1300 blocks of the avenue.

Captain Andy Jackson said as the weather warms there is more foot traffic. “With that comes more crime. Don't leave valuables in your automobiles such as guns, GPS units, checkbooks and pocketbooks.”

Anyone with information on the break-ins is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
