Traffic stop nets marijuana, mushrooms

A motor vehicle stop today led to the seizure of marijuana and mushrooms in Roanoke Rapids.

Lieutenant Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Agent D.C. Dickens was on patrol in the Roanoke Rapids area when he stopped a vehicle.

When Dickens approached the driver’s side window of the vehicle, he could allegedly smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.

Dickens identified the driver as Kirk Patrick Harris of Washington Street.

With assistance from Corporal E. Carroll, Dickens reportedly found user amounts of marijuana and mushrooms in the vehicle.

Harris was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule I and possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce. He was given a $2,000 secured bond and jailed.
