The Atlantic Coast Pipeline Community Investment Program awarded an $1,680 grant to the North Carolina Center for Automotive Research to support the GEM program.

“We are very excited that the ACP is supporting the GEM program,” said John Jones, a member of the board of directors of NCCAR. “The success of this program is in large part determined by the support of our corporate sponsors. This donation goes a long way toward not only the continued success of the program, but more importantly, of serving the needs of the young people in our community that participate in GEM.”
The money will be used for maintenance of GEM vehicles at the site in Garysburg and is a way to demonstrate the use of alternative fuel. They are used for shuttling staff at events and maintenance.
Jones accepted the grant from Bruce McKay, senior energy policy director for Dominion, the lead partner and developer of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline project and Tanya Evans, district manager for government and community relations of Duke Energy.
“We are pleased to be a supporter of NCCAR,” McKay said. “Dominion and all the companies involved with the Atlantic Coast Pipeline are committed to supporting the vitality and well-being of the communities in which we live and work, so supporting the GEM program was a natural fit for us.”
