Parents who have children in the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District will have access to their child’s attendance, grades, progress reports, and school announcements through the district’s new PowerSchool Parent Portal starting next week.

“I firmly believe parent and guardian involvement is crucial to academic success. This will give them confidential real-time access to information about their child and aid them in becoming more active participants in the educational process,” said Dain Butler, RRGSD superintendent.
PowerSchool’s Parent Portal also allows teachers and parents and guardians to communicate electronically so information is shared on a regular, timely basis instead of waiting until the end of grading periods.
Parents will create their own account using the appropriate access credentials. Those who have multiple students in the district will have access to all of their children under one account.
“It’s all about us staying connected and communicating. Kids are our customers and we’re committed to equipping parents and guardians with the information and resources they need to help make students as successful as possible,” Butler added.
Parents and legal guardians will be given access credentials during the first few days of school allowing them to create their account immediately.

Belmont
Belmont Elementary has adopted a Hollywood theme this year in an effort to get students even more excited about coming to school and learning.
Teachers took their show on the road Monday afternoon to welcome students back to school and talk with them about their summer.
As a bonus they handed out popsicles and played with them on the playground at both Emery and Rochelle Parks.
Roanoke Rapids Graded School students begin class Monday, August 29.
