The Roanoke Rapids Police Department this afternoon will hold a community prayer vigil for the four officers who died in the Charlotte area Monday while serving a warrant.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Shane Guyant said the vigil will be for those of the Charlotte community as well. The vigil will be held at 4 p.m. at Centennial Park.

The public is invited to attend.

“In some way shape or form we would like to take this tragic event and use it to strengthen our own community and to simultaneously show love and support to the families of these slain officers,” Guyant said.
