“I’m looking forward to working with the city,” Storey said today. “I have the utmost respect for (retiring clerk) Lisa (Vincent). I hope I can fulfill my duties as well as she has done.”
Vincent is retiring at the end of the month after more than 31 years of service to the city.
“Ms. Storey is coming to the city with a wealth of experience within municipal government,” Scherer said in the statement.
In Weldon she served as administrative services director. Part of her duties included serving as clerk, zoning administrator and human resources officer. “She comes to the city with extensive experience and knowledge of council proceedings, committee work and municipal rules and regulations.”
Mayor Emery Doughtie said, “She comes to us highly recommended.”
Scherer said, "I fully expect Ms. Storey to continue the tradition of excellence that Lisa Vincent has set for the city clerk position. She has both the experience and training to be an outstanding city clerk and will fit in well with our city administration team.”
