Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said this afternoon Johnnie Johnson was terminated.
Tripp said the charge reflects a one time action on behalf of Johnson. He said he anticipates arrests outside the detention center.
The sheriff would only say the investigation showed an illegal substance was involved which authorities consider a drug.
Tripp said the alleged offense was discovered through ongoing investigation.
Johnson, of Littleton, was jailed on $5,000 bond and assigned a September 21 court date.
