The theft of a debit card in June has the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office looking for a Scotland Neck man.

A woman was arrested in the case and a criminal petition has been obtained for a juvenile, Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement.
Detective R.B. Biggerstaff confirmed this morning the juvenile was allegedly complicit in the case.

After his investigation, Hall said Biggerstaff obtained warrants for the arrest of Jalisa Williams, 23, of Tarboro, and Roger Dashawn Smith, 31, as well as the juvenile, who is described as a family member.
Williams was arrested Sunday around 9:30 a.m. in Tarboro with assistance from the town’s police department.
She, along with the juvenile, face charges of obtaining property by false pretense, possession of stolen goods and larceny.
Williams received a $3,000 bond and August 24 court date.
Smith remains on the lam and is known to frequent areas in Scotland Neck.
Biggerstaff began investigating the case after the sheriff’s office received a report of the larceny on June 26 around 7 p.m. in the Scotland Neck area, Hall said in the statement.
Anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
