RRPD blotter: July 18-24, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Monday July 18, 2016
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett responded to a call of person later identified as Herbert Lonsie Johnson, 59, of Roanoke Rapids exposing himself inside Rite Aid. Baggett arrested and charged Johnson, who received a $500 bond and September 2 cout date, with indecent exposure.
Master Officer Adam Salmon and Officer Dustin Newsome assisted.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to disturbance call in the 100 block of Jackson Street.
Mason located Marquis Antoine High, 36, of Roanoke Rapids. High had an outstanding order for arrest for failing to report new address as a sex offender.
He was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a July 27 court date.

At approximately p.m., Officer Alex Green conducted a traffic stop where he encountered Crystal Gail Bynum, 35, of Roanoke Rapids, who had an outstanding warrant for arrest.
Green served the warrant which was for forgery and uttering and stemmed from a case investigated by Investigator Chris Babb. Bynum in March allegedly cashed a fraudulent check at a local business.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., Master Officer Roy Ball stopped a four-wheeler driven by Quayshawn Jermaine Rogers, 24, of Roanoke Rapids. The stop was near Highway 158 and Virginia Street.
Rogers had outstanding orders for arrest.
Ball arrested Rogers on the outstanding warrants and during a search found narcotics.
Rogers was charged with the outstanding order for arrest, warrants for driving while license revoked, hit and run, fail to report an accident and possession with intent to sell or deliver schedule VI.
He received a $29,000 bond and a July 29 court date.
Sergeant Daniel Jenkins assisted.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., Lieutenant Perry Parks conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Fifth near Franklin streets.
Parks determined the driver, Tezrika Bennett, 22, of Roanoke Rapids, was impaired. She was arrested and charged for driving while impaired, expired registration, possession of open container and no operators license.
She was released to a responsible person until her September 9 court date.
Marie Shavone Debrow, 31, of Roanoke Rapids, a passenger, was arrested on outstanding warrants for communicating threats and disorderly conduct.
She was also charged with possession of an open container and allowing an unlicensed person to drive. She received a $1,000 bond and August 23 court date.
Jenkins, Master Officer Gerald Morris and Officer Jamie Hardy assisted.
Wednesday July 20, 2016
At approximately 10 a.m., Mason responded to a motor vehicle collision at highways 158 and 48.
Mason discovered a vehicle hit a pole and the driver, Christopher Todd Dorough, 48, of Littleton, was impaired.
Mason arrested Dorough for driving while impaired and discovered he was in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. He charged Dorough with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. He received a $5,000 bond and August 5 court date.
Baggett and Sergeant Mike Moseley assisted.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., Newsome responded to a larceny call at Food Lion on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.
Staff reported Jessica Lynn Byrd, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, concealed items.
She was charged with shoplifting and released until her August 5 court date.
At approximately 9 p.m., Hardy and Officer Scott Blythe responded to a disturbance call at Halifax Regional.
Officers found Stuart Lee Cannon, 33, of Jackson, and spoke to him about his conduct. He calmed down but became disorderly again and hospital staff told him to leave. He walked away but returned and Hardy charged him with trespassing. He received a $400 bond and August 2 court date.
Parks and Officer Greg Colson assisted.
Thursday July 21, 2016
At approximately 4 a.m., Officer Scott Blythe responded to a disturbance call at Waffle House.
Officers found Herman Blount Jr., 54, of Gaston, on the property.
Blount refused to leave the property after being told to do so numerous times.
He was arrested and charged with trespassing. He received a $500 bond and August 12 court date.
At approximately 11 p.m., Officer Jason Williams, Blythe and Colson responded to a disturbance call at New Dixie Mart on Old Farm Road.
The officers found Ginger Daugherty Tripp, 36, of Roanoke Rapids, causing a disturbance.
Colson arrested and charged Tripp with disorderly conduct.
During a search officers found items taken from the store and she was additionally charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Tripp received a $600 bond and August 12 court date.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., Baggett arrested and charged Lannie Ray Birdsong, 40, of Roanoke Rapids, with larceny by employee and possession of stolen goods after he came to the police department to turn himself in on the charges.
The charges stem from a matter reported to Baggett on July 20.
The victim reported Birdsong was working at a business and allegedly took money from the safe.
He received a $1,500 bond and August 17 court date.
Friday July 22, 2016
At approximately 1 a.m., Parks checked on a suspicious vehicle at the T.J. Davis.
He encountered De’Mario Leequial Nelson, 25, and Lamonte Jequan Gorham, 23, both of Roanoke Rapids.
Parks found them to be in possession of alcohol, narcotics and paraphernalia.
Nelson was charged with possession of schedule VI , possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol.
He received a $1,000 bond and a September 9 court date.
Gorham was charged with possession of schedule VI , possession of drug paraphernalia and was served an outstanding order for arrest.
He received he a $1,000 bond and an August 10 court date.
Jenkins, Hardy and Sergeant Mark Peck assisted.
At approximately 1 p.m., Moseley conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Carolina Street for an investigation of the driver.
Moseley found the driver, Dennis Wayne Newton Jr., 42, of Gaston, had outstanding warrants.
He was arrested on the outstanding warrant for larceny and received a $2,000 bond and August 17 court date.
Saturday July 22, 2016
At approximately 11 a.m., Officer Chris Biggerstaff responded to a larceny call at CVS.
Staff reported Robert Earl Williams Jr., 44, of Rocky Mount, took items.
Biggerstaff arrested and charged Williams with two counts larceny, two counts possession of stolen goods and served several outstanding orders for arrest.
He received a $5,000 bond and August 19 court date.
Williams assisted.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Officer Hannah Grimes responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention reported Marcel Wesley Jacks, 53, of Baltimore, took items from the store.
Officer Grimes arrested and charged Williams with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
During a search narcotics were found were found in his possession and he was charged with possession of schedule II.
Jacks received a $1,500 bond and August 17 court date.
Master Officer Jonathan Benthall assisted.
At approximately 11 p.m., Peck responded to a call of a person bleeding in the 1000 lock of Vance Street.
Peck learned Casey Wayne Lynch, 53, of Roanoke Rapids, was involved in a crash and his vehicle struck several others which were parked.
Peck determined Lynch was impaired.
Peck arrested and charged Lynch with driving while impaired and hit and run.
He was released to a responsible person until his September 23 court date.
Lieutenant Charles Burnette and Officer Natara Velazquez assisted.
Sunday July 23, 2016
At approximately 12:15 a.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a disturbance call in what is traditionally called the “no-hundred” block of Franklin Street.
The victim reported Justin Eugene Wiggs, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, was refusing to leave the property. Wiggs had several outstanding orders for arrest.
Smith arrested Wiggs and then found him in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia,
Wiggs was charged with possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wiggs received a $20,500 bond and August 26 court date.
Master Officer Gerald Morris assisted.
At approximately 4:15 a.m., Peck attempted to conduct a traffic stop at Roanoke Avenue and Eleventh Street for a violation.
The driver refused to stop and continued on Thirteenth Street to Vance. The driver continued to the 400 block of Vance Street before losing control and striking several light poles and street signs.
One of the occupants was ejected from the vehicle and the other was still inside the vehicle.
Roanoke Rapids Fire Department, Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad and Halifax County EMS were dispatched to the scene. The occupants were taken to Halifax Regional for treatment and the person ejected was flown to Vidant in Greenville.
Peck obtained warrants on the driver Shaka Camplin Jackson, 27, of Weldon, for flee to elude arrest, reckless endangerment, driving while license revoked, speeding, and failure to stop for red light.
Jackson was arrested after he was released from the hospital around 12:15 p.m. He received a $5,000 bond and September 21 court date.
Sergeant Terrence Tyler and Smith assisted.
