The Enfield Police Department has obtained felony warrants on a funeral home owner who reportedly forged a widow's insurance policy to pocket $8,000.

Earl Schirra Joyner Clark

Detective Willie Murphy Jr. said this evening the case involving Earl Schirra Joyner-Clark, 53, began in 2013.

At that time, Murphy said, the victim, who had two insurance policies, used one of them to satisfy the burial expenses of her late husband.

Murphy said, however, Joyner-Clark allegedly forged the victim's name on the second policy to receive the $8,000.

Murphy said the victim contacted Joyner-Clark after learning the second policy had been used. After that contact Joyner-Clark reportedly agreed to reimburse the $8,000 to the victim. However, Joyner-Clark has failed to do so and there are no signs of activity at Clark Funeral Home in Enfield, which he owned.

Murphy said he is also investigating a similar case involving Clark, who is believed to live in Rocky Mount and frequents areas of Nash and Halifax counties.

Murphy has taken warrants out for the arrest of Joyner-Clark for uttering a forged endorsement, obtaining property by false pretense and identity theft after reviewing the documents and insurance policies.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call Murphy at the Enfield Police Department — 252-445-5122 extension 25 — or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
