The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets softball team held a "Fall Brawl" adult slow Pitch softball tournament fundraiser this past Saturday at Newsome Fields.
The Lady Jackets were raising funds for much needed home field "Goodwin Field" updates which include a Press Box building to start with.
Four Men and four Women teams started the day at 9am for pool play in the two divisions. Then came each division Home Run Derby followed by double elimination tournament. Brianna Temple won the Women's Home Run Derby, while Brent Powers won the Men's Home Run Derby.

Wrenn Sports earned the Women's Championship taking it to the IF game and extra innings for the win.

Quality Landscaping earned the Men's Championship.
Jordan Carpenter, Yellow Jackets assistant coach and organizer of the tournament stated, "I want to thank EVERYONE who came out to support the RRHS Softball team. Whether you were playing, cheering, or just stopping by, your support means the world to us. I appreciate you all more than you know."
Carpenter added about the volunteers, "I truly could not have done ANY of this without you. Every single job, big or small, mattered. You showed up, you worked hard, and you supported this event in ways I’ll never be able to fully express. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Carpenter added on a Facebook post naming the following four people:
Tracy Story — Thank you so much for your generous donation for the Home Run Derby. It added so much excitement to the day!
Randy Wrenn — Thank you for always being RRHS Softball’s number one supporter. You go above and beyond in every way possible. From donations to hands-on help to cheering us on… you do it ALL, and I could never thank you enough.
Daniel Clay — Thank you for being whatever I need at any given time — friend, co-teacher, cheerleader, problem solver, all of it. The BBQ was amazing, and everyone loved it! And a huge thank you to The Stray Cats for donating the supplies!
Casi Byrum — I could never have pulled this off without you. When I said, “Let’s plan a softball tournament in two weeks,” you jumped in with zero hesitation. You helped with every detail, made sure I was okay, listened to me fuss, showed up whenever I needed to talk things out, and supported me every single step of the way. I’m so thankful school brought us together and blessed me with one of my closest friends.
