The Myrick School of Dance Dancers competition team recently competed at the Fusion National Dance competition in Rocky Mount NC.
This was a large competition with close to 300 dance routines competing over the weekend of March 13th-14th 2021.
Overall awards from the weekend include:
Junior Large Group 2nd place overall tap to "Livin In New York City"
Teen Small Group 5th place overall
Senior Jazz "Heroes" and 1st place overall
Senior Clogging "Hollaback Girl"
Junior Solo division 6th place overall "Rain On Me"
Maggie Fowler Teen Solo division 2nd place overall "Rescue"
Molly Coggins Senior Duet Division 1st place overall "Journey" Cameron and Casey Neal

Bringing the Energy-"Hollaback Girl" Senior Clogging
Crowd Pleaser-"Rain On Me" Maggie Fowler
iDance4aCure Heart Award-"Rain On Me" Maggie Fowler
Elegant Sass-"Queens" Mini Jazz
Scholarship receiptant-"Resue" Molly Coggins
Best Choreography and costuming-"Heroes" Senior Jazz
One of the most prestigious awards was giving to "Journey" a clogging duet made up of Cameron and Casey Neal. They received the Highest Score of the weekend in the recreational division. This was a 1st place overall highest score out of 141 dance routines!!!
All of the routines were choreographed by Myrick School of Dance alumni Rachel Rightmyer. "Having Rachel join our staff full time this year has been great. She brings positive energy and compassion to our dance program. Her creativity and ability to choreograph routines that fit each dancer is her speciality. We are excited to have the opportunity to get back on stage and compete and to top it off with these amazing scores and overall awards just adds icing to the cake", stated Owner Heather Merritt.
