The Roanoke Rapids High School Cross Country team had it's first Conference Meet Tuesday at home.

Caitlin Bobbitt finished first in a group of 34 girls with a time of 24 minutes and 19 seconds.  RRHS girls made a strong showing yesterday by finishing in the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th and 12th positions earning then the win for the meet.  Top 5 girl finishers were Caitlin Bobbitt (1st), Anna Grace King(4th), Aseel Qasem(5th), Brooke Ott(6th) and Ella King(12th).

The boys also showed a strong showing for their first Conference Meet.  Roanoke Rapids Daniel Acree finished 3rd out of 56 runners with a time of 19 minutes and 9 seconds.  Allen Godsey placed in the 5th spot overall and 4 more Jackets edging out a top 20 finish.  Unofficial results look like the Jacket Boys finished 2nd to a strong Granville Central Team.

Post meet comments by Roanoke Rapids CrossCountry head coach Aubrey Coker, "I am extremely proud of all of the RRHS CC Runners and the hard work they have put in this summer especially with the extreme temperatures we have had.  The girls really showed up today and each one of them gave great effort and had their bests times to date.  The boys ran very well also and finished strong against some tough competition.  I truly believe we have a great group of student athletes and with their work ethic and determination we have a good chance of doing great things this year.  Coach MacNichol is also a wonderful and essential asset to this team with her track background and knowledge.  She is definitely a blessing for us.  "
