The weather wasn't the only thing making the Welon High vs Edgecombe games uncomfortable Tuesday night.

The first game saw the JV Weldon High Chargers go toe to toe with the North Edgecombe Warriors before they were finally able to pull away to a 73-66 win.

The varsity girls contest was interesting with the starters not seeing a lot of action in the first quarter. One can only assume that this was a planning strategy Weldon Head Coach Grady was using to strategize plans for the next school year. So with the contribution from players Weldon girls went on to win 70-26.

The varsity boys contest was a reflection of what happens near the end of the regular season. Teams are studying other teams, making play changes and changing attitudes all for a better position when it comes to the playoffs. Tonight after having lost to Weldon at their first meeting, the Warriors out played Weldon throughout most of the game but had to really play hard in the final minutes to capture the win. The Warriors was able to come out on top 67-61.

Weather permitting Weldon will travel to Columbia on Wednesday and Rocky Mount Prep on Friday.
