On Tuesday, July 30, our State Representative Rodney Pierce voted against the state budget.
That NO vote is significant to our house district in Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties.
Mr. Pierce’s NO vote means no state funds for our county governments.
His NO vote means no state funds for our cities and towns.
It means no state funds for local nonprofit organizations.
Rodney Pierce’s vote against the state budget means we won’t see a single penny in state monies from Raleigh.
When Michael Wray was serving us in Raleigh, he brought home more than $200 million in state funds.
These state monies were spent to build a new courthouse, to renovate a county office building, to modernize several water and sewer plants.
These monies were used to keep a critical nursing home open.
These state funds were used to purchase new fire trucks and equipment for first responders.
Then there was money allocated for workforce training programs at our community colleges.
There’s a big difference in political rhetoric and get it done leadership.
I, for one, will vote for leadership that knows how to get things done for the people back home.
