Suetta Sims Scarbrough, 86, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at The Lodge in Nash County.

Mrs. Scarbrough was born in Winder, GA, daughter of the late Mark and Mary Sims.  

She was the wife of the late Oscar L. Scarbrough, Jr.  

Her surviving family includes her two sons:  Keith and his wife Pam Scarbrough of Memphis, TN; Mark and his wife Beth Scarbrough of Wake Forest, NC and her grandchildren:  Mara Scarbrough, Natalie Scarbrough, and Mary Brown Scarbrough.  

Mrs. Scarbrough was proud to serve as a Roanoke Rapids councilwoman.  

She also served the community as past President of Halifax Community College Board of Trustees, and on a state level, as a board member of the community college system.  

She was President for the first Roanoke Rapids Band Festival.  

She was a business owner, teacher, loving wife, and mother.  

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 11:00 am in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tracy Sexton officiating.  

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am until the funeral hour.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to City of Roanoke Rapids, PO Box 38, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870, with Roanoke Rapids Fire/Police Dept.
