Dennis James Balmer, 63, of Gaston, NC died Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at his residence, with his family at his side.

Dennis was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC the son of the late Robert Lewis Balmer and Addie Virginia Dunlow Balmer. 

He was preceded in death by two sisters Betty Ogburn and Virgie Thacker, three brothers, George Lewis, Marshall and Donnie Balmer. He was employed as a farmer for forty-three years.

Surviving are: wife of forty-three years, Wendy Rook Balmer; a daughter, April Balmer Bullock and husband Tom of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a son Dennis (D.J.) Balmer, Jr. and wife Lacey of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two Sisters, Alice Deane and husband Edward of Ruckersville, VA, Marie Balmer Melvin and husband Marvin of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a brother Earl Balmer and wife Mary of Emporia, VA; four grandchildren, Thomas Balmer, Ayden Pittman, Katy Balmer and Anna Balmer, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The Family will receive at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral Home, Friday June 11, 2021, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 2:00 PM, at New Testament Christian Church, with Minister Daniel West officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC.
