Tommy Edward Haislip, 77, died Friday November 2, 2018.

A native of Halifax County, he was the son of the late Cleveland Smith and Etta Romanaski Smith, and was raised by the late Clyde and Agnes Wheeler Sr.

Tommy retired as a weaver from the local textile mills, and after retirement delivered the Daily Herald for 27 years.

He was also preceded in death by sisters; Gypsy Rose Wheeler, Margaret Epps, and Sue Hardy, brother; Clyde “Jabo” Wheeler Jr., and nephew; E.W. Epps Jr.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife Martha DiGiovanni Haislip, brothers-in-law; David Hardy Sr. and Ronald Smith, nieces; Lynn Morris, Wanda Smith, Angela Moss and Tiffany Wheeler, nephews; Joe Smith, Ronnie Smith, David Hardy Jr., Sammy Hardy, Michael Epps, and Jody Wheeler, numerous great nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Driftwood Lane, Roanoke Rapids, NC, with Rev. David Hardy Sr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tommy’s family to help offset his medical and funeral expenses.
