Iluminada “Nanay“ Ortiguerra, age 91 of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on August 24th, 2020 of natural causes.  

She was born on March 24th, 1929 to Guillermo and Justina Peralta in Malabon City, Philippines. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Cresencio Ortiguerra, one sister Dolores (Restituto) Siochi and her eldest daughter Nora Ortiguerra. Also surviving are her two living children Yolanda (Michael) Draughan of Roanoke Rapids and Victor (Imelda) Ortiguerra of Malabon, Philippines: Four grand-daughters Angie (Michael) Whitney of Roanoke Rapids, Carla and Camille Ortiguerra of Malabon City Philippines, and Rizza Atkins of Walden New York. Three great grandchildren Noah, Macy and Kinsley Draughan-Whitney of Roanoke Rapids. Three nephews Armin, Jess and Restituto Siochi Jr. of the Philippines. She also had many close friends here in Roanoke Rapids who became her extended family, and who loved her dearly. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker, who loved to cook.  She made people laugh and was very comedic and always put a smile on the faces of anyone she met. She loved attending church, praying her rosary, and had a perpetual devotion to her family and had an unwavering faith in God. 

The funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Tuesday Sept 1st at 11am. Father Pius Wekesa will be officiating.  The family invites attendees to stay in the church after the mass to share fond memories and provide comfort during this time of bereavement.
