Norman A. Chaffin, 82, of Henrico, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at his home.

Norman was a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, Air Traffic Controller with 20 years of active service for his country. 

After retiring from the Navy, he worked for the Army at Felker AAF, Virginia as an Air Traffic Controller and Tower Chief of the facility. He was a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and after retiring, moved to Oklahoma and attended Seminary at Oklahoma Baptist University. After being Ordained into the Ministry, he served as Pastor for several small churches in Oklahoma and northern Texas. He retired from pastoral duties and moved to Arizona. After his wife’s death he moved back to North Carolina and bought a home on Lake Gaston. Norm loved fishing on the lake and he was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his friends. 

Norman was predeceased by his parents, John A. Chaffin and Marion Frances Gabriel Chaffin and his wife of 60 years, Francis Chaffin. He is survived by his loving wife; Alice “Betty” Griffith Moore, his son; Brent, of Phoenix, AZ, and his brother; Leon, of Moore, Oklahoma.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 29, at Lake Gaston Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Adam Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends after the Service. Norman will be buried with his first wife, Frances Chaffin, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at a later time.
