Patsy Stephenson Daniel of Powell, Tennessee, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 15, 2026, with her family at her side. 

She celebrated her 95th birthday the week before with a festive dinner with her family.

Patsy was born in Garysburg, North Carolina on January 7, 1931, daughter of Thomas Dixon Stephenson and Sara Ellis Stephenson. 

She graduated from Weldon (NC) High School and attended Greensboro College where she studied dance and theatre arts. 

She was a member of the Garysburg United Methodist Church, where she married Charles R. Daniel, Jr. on February 5, 1954.

Patsy worked at Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, supporting Charlie as he earned his degree at UNC.

Patsy and Charlie moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in the summer of 1958, and she soon began a lifetime of community service.  

She was an active member and former officer of the Akima Club and a longtime volunteer and former chair of the Dogwood Arts Festival Trails Committee. 

Patsy was a board member for the Knoxville Nativity Pageant and a troop leader and longtime volunteer for the Girl Scouts. 

She served as chair of the Powell High School PTSO and was Commissioner of the Powell Girls Softball League. Patsy volunteered with the Knoxville Symphony League, Friends of the Library, Save the Bijou, and the Knoxville Teen Board. She was an active member of the Andrew Bogle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Patsy was a member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville and the Open Circle Sunday School Class. 

She previously attended Cumberland Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School classes, and Wallace Memorial Baptist Church where she was a leader of the Sunbeams class.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Katherine Stephenson Robinson and Jane Turner Stephenson.

Patsy is survived by her husband, her children, Charles R. Daniel, III (Lenore K. Albee), of St. Louis, MO, and Sarah Daniel Sharp (Gregg H. Sharp) of Powell, TN; grandchildren, Ann Sharp McDaniel (Matthew C. McDaniel) of Knoxville, Daniel S. Sharp (Laura Sheppard Sharp) of Farragut, Blair Katherine Daniel (Cecile M. Murray) of Washington D.C., and Charles R. Daniel, IV of St. Louis, MO; great grandchildren, Benjamin McDaniel, Jackson Sharp, Thomas McDaniel, and Caroline Sharp.

Patsy will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon, North Carolina on Friday, April 17.

There will be a public celebration of Patsy’s life at the Garysburg Methodist Church at 1:00 on Saturday, April 18.
