Dustin J. Maurice, 16, of Roanoke Rapids, went to be in God’s care on October 16, 2025. 

He was born on November 24, 2008 in Halifax County, attended Roanoke Rapids High School, and was very creative. 

Dustin was passionate about art and drawing, and was good with his hands. In addition to his art work, he was also mechanically-inclined and loved to tinker on motors putting them back together again.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelby Pittman Exum; grandfather, Steve Pittman; and great grandparents, William F. and Betty Jean Pittman, and Milton and Libby Copeland. Dustin leaves to cherish his memory his grandmother, Kathy Copeland Pittman; brother, Dylan Exum; uncle, Kenny Pittman and his wife, Beth; cousin, Ayden Pittman; great uncle and aunt, by whom he was formerly fostered, John and Barbara Frazier; girlfriend, Alyssa Clemmons; and many extended family members.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Wrenn Funeral Home. A visitation will be held to celebrate Dustin’s life on Tuesday, October 21, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, at Crestview Memorial Cemetery, with Reverend Norma Roberts officiating.
