Thomas Earl Scott, 67, of Garysburg passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.

Earl was born January 6, 1955, in Halifax County to the late Adam Scott, Sr. and Martha Jarrell Scott. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret S. Beam, Mavis S. Tart, Maxine S. Nelson, Minnie S. Haithcock, Martha S. Alford and Linda S. Brown; his brothers, Adam Scott, Jr. and Eugene Glenn Scott; his brother-in-law, Ronald Woodruff.

Earl was a genius as a mechanic, he could fix anything, and worked as a mechanic for over forty years. Earl loved woodworking. His favorite hobbies were gardening and watching football. Earl was All Conference in Football his senior year in high school. Earl loved all of his brothers and sisters.

Earl is survived by his stepdaughter, Lindsey Boone and her husband Milton of Bracey, VA; two step-grandchildren, his brother, Arvin W. Scott and his wife Deborah Fontanna of Garysburg; his sisters, Marilyn S. Phelps and her husband Thomas, Arlene S. Merritt and Irma S. Woodruff all of Roanoke Rapids; several special nieces and nephews, a special friend, Mary Estep.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 3, 2022, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
